The family saw a skinny cat desperately begging for food – and then two more cats came out of the bushes. All three were in a terrible state, skinny and covered with fleas, but it was clear that these cats had recently lived in the house.

An American woman named Megan Beavers and her husband were walking their dog recently when a hungry cat ran out to meet them. As soon as the woman took food out of the bag, two more cats ran out of the bushes. All three were very thin, completely covered with fleas and with hair falling out in some places.

But despite the shabby appearance, it was clear that the cats had recently been domesticated. They asked for affection and were not at all afraid of people. When Megan asked the neighbors, it turned out that a few months ago these cats were thrown out into the street to their fate …

Then the family decided to help the cats, and they took them to their place for recovery: “At home, we took care of them and gave them the necessary medicines. After a couple of hours of talking with them, I realized for sure that they were domestic cats that were simply thrown away. This thought has haunted me – how could someone throw away such charming animals as garbage?” says the caretaker.

The family took care of the cats, and after a few days the animals finally relaxed, became more playful, and began to recover. When they finally got better, Megan decided to publish their photos and story on social networks. She didn’t expect such a response.

The story of cats touched thousands of hearts, but one woman immediately wrote to Megan. She was so touched by the story that she decided to take three cats home with her. She and her husband were just looking for a pet but decided that they were ready to accept three furries into their home.

So these three found a loving home. The owners flew for them by plane through several states – but the journey was definitely worth it! Soon they were already at home with their new pets. The cats are perfectly settled in the house as if they have always been there.

Thanks to the kind people who gave these fluffies a new life. Now they enjoy every day, play, run, and love their owners very much! “They’ve been through a lot and experienced a lot of hardship living on a cold street. But now they have a loving family,” says the caregiver.

This is one of those stories that makes you believe in true friendship! Two rescued kittens with different personalities and difficult fates have found each other – now they are thick as thieves.

Two months ago Chester, a redhead, was brought to Wrenn Rescues in California, where he ended up in caring hands.

Apart from some health problems due to his street life, the kitten’s lower jaw was hanging down. The first thing the vets noticed was that for this reason, he was purring very loudly. “We couldn’t hear his heartbeat during the examination because of the loud purring,” the staff said.
After Chester underwent corrective surgery, he was taken into temporary care by local resident Mel Lamprey.

After the operation, the cat was fitted with a small metal structure and lost four teeth, but bravely endured it all!

The loud purring continued after the operation – it was Chester’s highlight. The foster mum said: “He is a wonderful, sweet, affectionate and very grateful kitty. You can’t just walk into a room without getting a happy greeting and a dose of loud purring from Chester!”
Meanwhile, Bitty was brought to the same animal rescue centre.

Unlike Chester, Beatty was withdrawn, afraid of people and would not let anyone near her. Her paws were missing a few toes and her tail and ear were skinned. “We can only guess what happened to her,” said a centre worker.

After a check-up at the vet, the kitten joined the family who took Chester in. The two kittens had very different personalities – Chester, full of love and excitement, and the fearful, sad Beatty.

The kitty didn’t seem to care as much about people as animals. But Chester was determined to win her attention by all means. Every day he tried to get closer and closer to befriending her.

One day Beatty became very ill and was rushed to the vet clinic, where she was found to have an infection on her injured paws. After a few days in the clinic, they took her home.

“The moment she saw Chester, she immediately ran to him. He bathed her in his purrs, and it was as if he accepted Beatty and she accepted him,” Mel recalls.

Since then, the friendly couple has become a real gang: they play, cuddle and sleep together. Chester is protective of Beatty. Often when she hears a sudden loud noise or is startled by something, she immediately runs to him. When Chester is picked up by the owner or he is not around, Beatty cries and looks for her protector.

While Betty was taking care of her offspring, Yeti was also always there to help her cope. When Mum needed a break, Yeti took on a little more responsibility each time and looked after the kittens, helping his beloved to take a break from the hassle.

The kittens have grown up healthy and active, and the parents have always been there for them. The lovers have more time to themselves – and they still do a lot of things together. At the moment, homes have already been found for the grown-up kittens, and Betty and Yeti are waiting for their permanent family – of course, the volunteers will only give them to a new home together!

A stray cat with hungry and pleading eyes looked out the window of a woman – the poor one asked for food and affection. When the woman treated it, it started coming every day.

A lucky couple who stumbled upon one of Britain’s ‘biggest archaeological finds’ by discovering an incredible hoard of 264 gold coins dating back to the reign of King James I under their kitchen floor have sold them at an auction for nearly £755,000 – three times their original estimated value.

The unnamed couple made the astonishing find while getting a new floor put down in their 18th century detached home in the village of Ellerby, North Yorkshire three years ago, just six inches under the concrete.

The gold coins – some of which are more than 400 years old, dating back as far as 1610, while others stretch to 1727, meaning they cover the reigns of James I, the executed Charles I, and King George I – had been kept in a salt-glazed earthenware cup for around three centuries.

They had been collected by Joseph Fernley and his wife Sarah Maister, members of a wealthy and influential merchant Hull-based family who traded in iron ore, timber and coal, and whose latter generations were Whig politicians and Members of Parliament.

An expert from London auctioneers Spink & Son visited the property to evaluate the hoard – and this year the coins sold for a staggering £754,320.

One of the highlights of the sale – a George I guinea from 1720 which was mistakenly minted without a king’s head on it, instead having two ‘tail’ sides of the coin – fetched £9,600, while a  Charles II guinea from 1675 which incorrectly spells the king’s Latin name CRAOLVS instead of CAROLVS also sold for £9,600.

Auctioneer Gregory Edmund called the find ‘one of the largest on archaeological record from Britain’.

He said: ‘The sale was unique in so many ways. The story of the coins, the method of discovery and the rare opportunity to buy them at auction.

‘All that combined in a buoyant and energised market to create incredible new prices as the 264 coins of the Ellerby hoard found new homes. Buyers flocked from around the world to share in the story of Sarah and Joseph Fernley and the privilege of owning a part of their 292-year old treasure.

‘I have never seen a response to an auction like that before, and the results testify it, my provisional estimate was demolished three times over. The finders who wish to remain anonymous were absolutely staggered by the result. It dwarfed any pre-conceived expectations. I am not sure it will ever sink in.

‘The coins were perhaps very ordinary in one sense, but the story was extraordinary and that is what achieved the mind-blowing result this evening. I do hope people think before ripping up their floors though.

‘It is exceedingly rare for such discoveries to every come to market, so for me to have had such an honour so early in my career is humbling indeed.

‘This find is one of the largest on archaeological record from Britain. It was an entirely serendipitous discovery. The owners have never picked up a metal detector in their life. They were just relaying a floor and thought it was an electrical cable at first.

‘I rushed up to see them in North Yorkshire a few days after and there were 264 gold coins in this cup – it is unfathomable, I have no idea how they managed to fit so many in that pot.

‘The coins date from 1610 to 1727, which is an usually long period for a hoard.

‘It also raises the question why has someone decided to bury a lot of coins at the beginning of the 18th century, when they had banks and bank notes – all the things that meant hoarding shouldn’t have happened any more’.
